  1. Dyad - A New Approach

    This is an introduction to the Dyad System - the basis for OPAPP. This video explains how the Dyad System is based on the marriage of a learning task and an assessment task. This introduction gives viewers an analogy to help them understand what a learning task and assessment task are and how the Dyad System is different than our current classroom assessments.

  2. And the Answer is..... The Kids

    The Ohio Performance Assessment Pilot Project is all about the kids - all about being able to better assess their learning. Better assessment makes your job as a teacher easier. You will get a much better idea of where your students are now and where they need to go.

  3. Somali Math Problem

    The Somali Math Problem presented October 4, 2011 by Abdinur Mohamud, Ph.D. for the Ohio Performance Assessment Pilot Project illustrates the challenges ELL students and teachers face in the classroom. In this exercise participants faced not only the challenge of deciphering the language of Somali but also the language of math.

  4. Throw Your Tooth on the Roof Re-Engagement Lesson

    Throw Your Tooth on the Roof is a 5th grade ELA/Social Studies lesson that uses a storybook about cultural traditions revolving around the loss of a child's first tooth. The lesson then goes on to explore, compare and contrast other cultural traditions.

  5. Austin Butterfly Part 4 - Assessment

    OPAPP uses the student feedback story, Austin's Butterfly, to illustrate the value and success obtainable using teacher and student feedback in your classroom.

    Part 4 shows how effective feedback can lead to high-quality student work.

    Austin was asked to draw a butterfly for his schools fund raising cards. This series of Austin's butterfly drawings as shared by Ron Berger illustrates the success available using peer feedback techniques in your classroom.

  6. Re-Engagement Introduction

    This is the third module for the Ohio Performance Assessment Pilot Project. Re-engagement is necessary when teachers see there is a disconnect between what has been taught and the students' understanding of the material. By taking examples of the students' work and presenting it to the whole class, students can see examples of high, medium and low work and clear up their misconceptions.
